Cool, Modern Bridal Style, From Talented + Creative South UK Wedding Suppliers

Ideas

As we near the end of the year, I’m reflecting on all the glorious content we have shared throughout 2019, which has showcased some of the fantastic British design talent we have here in the wedding industry – this particular editorial shoot being a prime example.

Editorial shoots like this aren’t meant to mimic weddings (something they are often criticised for) – their purpose is to provide inspirational styling ideas – to present a suite of images that help you consider how creative styling ideas might look on your own wedding day. To help you think outside the box.

Concept, The wondrous Wedding Fair + Follow

The objective of this particular shoot was  to bring together a selection of suppliers who exhibit at The Wonderous Wedding Fair – which provides a platform for some of the South UK’s best wedding industry talent. I love what the team have produced, and hope you do too.

The team behind this shoot wanted to create a mix of modern design against a more historic backdrop. They used super cool pieces by designers including Ashley Wild Bridal (watch out for more from Ashley on Love My Dress in the coming weeks).

Words below are from Alex of The Wonderous Wedding Fair

“Our shoot took place at The Queens Hotel, in Southsea – a magnificent Edwardian hotel overlooking the Solent, with ornate stone-carved balconies and countless neoclassical decorative flourishes.”

It was the perfect location for this modern romantic styled shoot. I was looking for a venue that had decaying walls, a feeling of abandonment and in sense like the house of Miss Havisham’s in Great Expectations.”

“The venue granted exclusive access to its disused top apartments, which provided a fabulous opportunity to document the unoccupied area, as the hotel is currently undergoing a complete renovation.  Everywhere you looked, you were wowed by a feast of fading glamour.”

“The creative team worked on table styling that included modern copper cutlery, contemporary florals and vintage cut glass candlesticks.”

“The absolutely gorgeous spectrum of fresh colour accents completely consumed the wonderful contemporary table. Ranging from pastel pinks to vibrant corals, the combination of different floral textures filled the delightful table scape; fluffiness from the cotton buds, sheen off the anthuriums, frills from the classic carnations and berries that were ready to pop.”

“The fashion provided four unique and modern looks, from an incredible bellowing draping tulip sleeves to a pop of pink combined with vintage beaded cami.”

“We worked with a number of talented bridal accessory designers, including Ashley Wild Bridal, Sasha Archer (no website) and Alabaster Dream – were were passionate about supporting unique independent wedding  talents.”

It’s the experience – seeing individual talents work together like this – it is so satisfying. The day produces scrumptious shots and new working relationships.”
